It was December 2019. I bought my tickets to Japan as a Christmas gift for myself. It was my dream trip, the destination on top of my list. Potentially, the very first. And then the pandemic hit. Long story short, I didn’t get to visit Japan in 2020. And it doesn’t look like I’m doing it this year either!
Still, my obsession with Japan just keeps growing so I decided to try a couple subscription boxes for the first time, both from Japan. I checked out a few different companies, and ended up going for TokyoTreat and YumeTwins subscription. I thought I would tell you about my experience now that I have received the first box of my 3 months subscription for each of these.
Plus, this is the kind of travel experience I can get at home 🙂
I was a bit worried. It was still an big investment, as I decided to go for 2 different subscriptions, and I’m currently leaving in Portugal. I was scared the boxes would take over a month to arrive, even though on their website they mention a delivery time between 14 to 30 days.

I’m happy to say they both took less than a month to arrive, and I’ve finally opened the boxes and started testing the snacks (tasting experience currently going on on Instagram). February’s theme was quite obvious – Valentine’s – but I very surprise with the quality of the products I have received! For full disclosure, I did go for the Premium subscription for the snacks, and I was really happy with the new Kit Kat strawberry flavour coming in my box.

My favourite item of the YumeTwins box were definitely the socks . It came with my favourite sanrio character – Kuromi – and are incredibly soft. The mug is incredibly cute as well, and the plushy very soft. I just don’t like the Valentine’s heart there – find it a bit cheesy, to be honest.

Overall, I feel like a happy child. Very pleased with the experience so far, and I can’t wait to get a few more pieces of Japan in March’s boxes.
